Typically, billing services charge a percentage of all money collected, regardless of the work or costs involved. With flat rate pricing, physicians stand to save plenty said Bortz and it’s a far more fair way to bill for actual services performed.
The practice keeps all money collected, whether it be from patients or insurance companies. Physicians save even more when their front office collects copays or old balances as patients are seen, reducing the need for mailed statements substantially. With ACA and rising deductibles, doctors must do a better job of collecting what’s due from patients said Bortz.
It’s a fact that many patients ignore statements until they make their next appointment or are physically seen again. Opportunities to collect balances due from patients are missed when front office personnel don’t have the tools or training they need, or are forced to use inefficient or poorly designed systems.
