Dear Sirs;

I left my checking account overdrawn for a few weeks. I went to straighten things out with the bank and they told me my account was closed and they reported me to ChexSystem. I had never heard of ChexSystem. ChexSystem it seems is a credit-reporting-agency and a collection agency in one. Banks report unfortunate consumers like myself that have made some type of banking error. Now, I had bad listing and can not open a checking account.

After a fashion I contacted ChexSystem by telephone and ChexSystem requested I send them a letter and explain the circumstance and provide my personal information. Meanwhile I had to cash my paychecks at a check cashing place and use money-orders. I eventually got a copy of my report and sent a reply that I had already-paid the amount that was owed to my bank and would ChexSystem please remove the listing. I was horrified that they wouldn't. I was later shocked that my bank would not re-open my checking account because of the ChexSystem listing even though it was a small amount and it was paid-off!. I went on the Internet to find a non ChexSystem bank. I located a site and paid for a list. I received the list, I found that the banks used a company called tele-check and I still could not open an account with them as I had bounced a few checks during the divorce.

Meanwhile, I figured out I was spending about three hours a week cashing my check, standing in line to pay bills and buying money-orders. Do you know at my $14.00 per hour with the overtime I was missing, it actually cost me almost $250 per month to do my banking? It made me sick.

Then one day I stumbled onto your site. I got a debit card through a bank that does not use ChexSystem so I could get my payroll check direct deposited. They approved me online and opened a bank account for me! I now use my card to pay my bills online, my phone, electric, cable and gas bills. It has been accepted everywhere I shop. I can rent a car with it! My landlord set up an ACH debit so I don't have to write him a check! It was truly an answer to prayers! I now have my free time back, peace of mind, and more cash in my bank account! Now I bank and don't use ChexSystem  Instant Account Number No overdraft fees!

Getting an incident reported to ChexSystem is hard to remedy. Many banks now have policies and will not open a checking account for you if you have one or more incidents reported to ChexSystem. more

SCAN the Shared Check Authorization Network, is a sister company to ChexSystem and both are owned by Deluxe. Unlike with ChexSystem, NSFs reported to SCAN are purged once they are paid. In theory, once the NSF is paid, it should automatically be removed from your record within days. Often times this does not occur and you will need to notify SCAN yourself in order for them to take action and clear the record.
